The village of Deia nestles between the Tramuntana mountains and the sea. Deia (Deya) attracts discerning travelers from all over the world with its renowned restaurants, bars and cafes where the writers, artists and locals mingle giving an ambience which makes Deia special. In the summer you can take a boat, relax fishing, swim in the clear blue water in one of the secuded coves or simply soak up the sun. In the months when the temperature is a bit cooler there are many walks which take in the stunning coastline and mountains depending on how active one wants to be. The area is also very popular with cyclists of all abilities. The breathtaking landscapes in and around Deia offers opportunities for aritsts from beginers to masters to create that special painting. Every year there is live music in one of the bars and the Deia International Music Festival attracts performers from around the world.
If you are looking for a stress free holiday, Deia is second to none. Over the years many artists, musicians and writers have made their home here. Classical music concerts, jazz nights, literary festivals and exhibitions take place frequently. The pretty towns of Valdemossa and Soller are both easily reached by car or bus and are well worth visiting. The coastal and mountain views along the road are spectacular. Palma with it's beautiful cathedral and excellent shops is only 35 mns away. The road from Deia to Palma is surrounded by almond orchards and Mallorca is famous for the almond blossom in February. Mallorca islands vineyards are north of Palma within an hours journey. Deia was once the home to the poet Robert Graves, the composer De Falla and illustrator Arthur Rackman and now is a haven for bohemians,romantics and artists. There are numerous walking paths from Deia to Soller & Valdemossa, both coastal and mountain & a good bus service gets you back from where you have wandered to.
