Palma Nova is just 15km from the historical capital of Palma de Mallorca. Palma Nova itself has 3 beaches all with great facilities and lifeguards in the holiday season, and golf courses are within easy reach. The seafront promenade has plenty of restaurants, bars and delightful pavement cafes, which are all child-friendly. The resort is very central for four golf courses, all within 10-15 minutes drive away.... The tourist resort of Palma Nova is right beside that of Magalluf. In fact, Magalluf and Palma Nova are so close to one another that you are able to walk from one into the other without even realizing that you are in a different area.
Palma Nova lies on the south-west coast of Majorca. It is north of Magaluf and separated from it by a rocky headland. It is very popular with British holidaymakers having guaranteed summer sun, three good beaches with safe bathing and lots of entertainment. As it is only ten miles from the airport transfers are fairly swift. The holiday season in Palma Nova lasts from the end of April until late October with temperatures ranging from 20-35 degress Celcium.
Palma Nova is also within a very short distance from the exclusive Puerto Portals with its designer boutiques and exclusive restaurants. There are a few good 18 hole golf courses within a 5 minute drive away.
Palma Nova is blessed with great weather for most of the year. The summer can be unbearably hot and humid, particularly in July and August, whilst the rest of the year is warm or mild. Temperatures can be as hot as 40°C at the height of the summer, with winter temperatures averaging 15°C during the day. Probably the best feature of Palma Nova is its beaches. There are three of them and all have golden sand, crystal clear waters and a long promenade that links them altogether. The longest beach of Palma Nova is the next beach along, Playa de Palma Nova, which stretches along for 500 metres. The headland by the Son Matias Hotel is situated at one end and at the other, the McDonald's fast-food restaurant of Palma Nova with its large outdoor terrace.
Palma Nova is an excellent resort for families with the beach so close to the centre, lifeguards on duty in summer, first aid stations, warning flags and other safety facilities. All eating and drinking places in the resort are family friendly and there are dozens of family attractions within a short distance of Palma Nova. Shops in Palma Nova are completely geared towards the holiday trade. Supermarkets are the best place to snap up cheap cigarettes and alcohol. The Mallorcan capital, Palma, offers a much more interesting shopping experience, catering to a much broader market, with international branded high street stores nestling beside atmospheric one-off boutiques. |
