Despite the belief that Mallorca is a summertime vacation destination, Soller sees many visitors throughout the year. With spectacular scenery including beautiful mountains falling into pretty green valleys and the wonderful coastline, the area has long been popular with walkers and cyclists alike. 30 minutes from Soller you can find a number of golf courses, water parks and all the amenities of the city of Palma, and the region suits many tastes: from energetic walkers to the artist or the family in search of a relaxing, safe and quiet beach holiday. The large variety of lovely shops, restaurants and bars, both provincial and international, mean that it’s a very easy place to relax in.
Soller lies in the middle of the Serra de Tramuntana mountain range that lines the north west coast of Mallorca. For centuries the high mountains to the south of Soller isolated the town from Palma and the rest of Mallorca island. Today a road tunnel goes under those mountains though for day trippers from Palma the way to arrive is on the Palma-Soller train which is one of Europe's great railway journeys. The train arrives in the town of Soller then you have the option to take a tram which crawls its way down to the port of Soller.
Around Soller the landscape in spring is covered with oranges, lemons and olives. Beautiful & close local villages such as Biniaraix and Fornalutx are the best places from which to appreciate this landscape and have become popular havens for walkers and cyclists visiting the Tramuntana region. In Soller there is a very popular festival on the second Sunday of May. Soller is well known for producing a superb and healthy olive oil, we have a nice ice cream made in Soller, jam, patés, and of course the typical “sobrassada and ensaïmada“.
