Tenerife is the largest of the Canary Islands. It is also one of the most visited, partly because its climate makes it a realistic sunshine holiday destination throughout the year, but also because of the sheer variety of activities on offer. Far from being just a beach destination, Tenerife has mountains, national parks, surfing beaches, scuba diving sites, traditional towns and villages and much more. Thomas Cook Tenerife holidays are some of the most popular because of the diversity of hotels, packages and travel dates on offer. Here are five must do activities according to Trip Advisor users

Learn to scuba dive
Tenerife is a great place to learn to scuba dive; it offers courses from the Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI), the international standard in diving schools. You can explore reefs, wrecks and rocky shorelines with your fully qualified instructor, whilst learning to dive independently.

Siam Park
One of the world’s best water parks is located in Adeje in Tenerife. It is designed as a tropical paradise set somewhere in Thailand and boasts adrenaline-pumping slides as well as relaxing pools, slow-flowing rivers and secluded waterfalls and hidden sunbathing areas

Masca
Tenerife is surprisingly mountainous and its high-mountain roads wind in scary hairpins skirting sheer rock faces and terrifying cliffs. Driving these roads is not for the feint-hearted or the overzealous. The drive through the mountains to the village of Masca is thrill inducing and at times hair-raising, but highly rewarding. The village itself is beautiful and traditional.

Mount Teide National Park
The highest point in Spain is Tenerife’s Mount Tiede. This dormant volcano stands 3718 metres above sea level and is one of the tallest volcanoes in the world. The national park surrounding it has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2007 and it is one of the most visited national parks in the world, with 2.8 million visitors passing through the park every year.
The landscape is like that on Mars and has actually been used as a reference point for numerous scientific studies. The park boasts unique plant and animal life and a strange, often eerie and barren landscape. You can climb the summit of the volcano on foot; if you are not so adventurous, you can summit the mountain in a cable car

Playa de las Teresitas
The mile long beach of Playa de las Teresitas is one of the most beautiful beaches in Tenerife. The beach is sheltered thanks to a breakwater and the water is incredibly clean and clear. The Anaga Mountains form the backdrop and the capital Santa Cruz can be seen in the distance.
